# Cappuccino vs latte: caffeine and calories Both drinks are built on one espresso shot, so the caffeine is identical. Anyone choosing between them for a caffeine reason is choosing on a difference that does not exist. What does differ is how much milk goes in. The app's cappuccino is a 200 ml drink at 60 kcal, against a latte's 350 ml at 147 kcal. Same coffee, 87 fewer calories, because there is 150 ml less milk in the cup. ## Foam is milk with air whipped into it A cappuccino usually arrives in a cup that looks as full as a latte's, and it is. The top third of it is just not liquid. Foam is milk with air beaten through it. It fills volume it does not weigh. That is why the serving is 200 ml rather than the size of the cup. The drink still earns the milk bonus. At a hydration factor of 1.10, the app credits those 200 ml as 220 ml toward the goal. Whipping milk does not stop it being milk. ## The after-dinner one is still there at bedtime A cappuccino at eight in the evening has barely started working by nine. Caffeine peaks close to two hours after the drink. A 63 mg cup is near its maximum right when the evening winds down. About 45 mg of it is still in circulation at eleven. That is roughly a cup of black tea's worth of caffeine, arriving at bedtime. The app's coffee deadline usually rules out an after-dinner cappuccino for exactly this reason.
